Sword Fern is rich, deep, earthy, sweet and fresh all at once. It is evergreen vegetal fronds curling up and open within the understory of the forest, intermingled with the spicy, dark soil, resinous fir needles and cedar leaves, musky forest duff and salty animalic fungi that shelter just under its hearty growth. Bury your face in the center where the fronds begin to unfurl and breathe it in. Made using Western Sword Fern Tincture as a base.

Sword Fern was inspired by a plant meditation I was a part of, sitting in an old growth forest on a misty early fall morning in Corbett, Oregon. Surrounded by Western Red Cedar, Doug Fir, Big Leaf Maple, seeding Nettles, a wide variety of other plant and fungus friends, and Western Sword Fern.
I had a vision of Western Sword Fern as an analogy for a healthy, thriving and connected community.

Meditation:

Imagine that we are each a frond of the same Western Sword Fern. We may each be in a different phase of our process; some still tightly curled (or feeling that way), some unfurling into possibility, some open, raw and delicate, some hearty and evergreen, strong with wisdom, some diving into the depths head first and some in a process of decomposition and transformation in order to bring more nutrients to the forest and the whole plant itself. But all of us connected at the center; at the root.

We work together to serve the above and the below of the forest, comfortable in the shadows, the moist muck and duff; equally in service to the trees and the fungi. Both a shelter for the smaller, more vulnerable beings of the forest, sustenance for the mycelium and support to the towering trees of Western Red Cedar, Doug Fir, Western Hemlock, Great Redwoods… Focused on thriving together (no matter the phase each frond is in), and putting energy into something bigger than our collective selves.


The Fragrant Wild scents are made using all-natural essential oils, concretes, absolutes and resins. These materials are mixed into a base of locally distilled organic cane alcohol.
